Cisco Service Provider Mobility Foundation LTE (LTE100)


Course Overview

The Cisco® Service Provider Mobility Foundation LTE is an instructor-led, lab-based, hands-on course offered by Cisco Learning Services. It includes detailed instructions on how to manage, monitor, and configure the Cisco Aggregated Services Router (ASR) 5x00 Series and Virtualized Packet Core (VPC) platforms. You are introduced to the hardware and software architecture of each platform. Additionally, hardware and software troubleshooting are covered. Through hands-on labs, you learn how to navigate and use the StarOS command line interface (CLI) and configure system logging and threshold crossing alarms (TCAs).

This course is designed for participants from any of the following roles who are responsible for the planning, configuration, and management of systems running StarOS:

  • Network engineering
  • Network consulting engineers
  • Customer support
  • Field engineering
  • Switch technicians


You must have a thorough understanding of IP routing, networking protocols, and a basic working knowledge of applicable Third-Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) network operations.

You must bring a laptop or notebook computer with the following:

  • Terminal emulation program (such as PuTTY, available at capable of Telnet or Secure Shell (SSH)
  • 10BASE-T or 100BASE-T Ethernet interface

Course Content

Following are the tasks and features covered by the course:

  • Hardware and software architecture of the Cisco ASR 5500
  • Hardware and software architecture of the ASR 5000
  • Hardware and software architecture of the VPC-DI (distributed instance)
  • Hardware and software architecture of the VPC-SI (single instance)
  • StarOS CLI for chassis management, monitoring, and configuration
  • Initial system configuration, configuration of administrative users, hardware redundancy, and remote management functions
  • Basic troubleshooting of hardware and software, and subscriber session setup
  • Implementation of management functions, such as TCAs, and hardware and software monitoring through system logs
